Actually, they're not. Or, rather, as far as I know, they never left. I did go see them in concert in 2011 as part of the NKOTBSB tour... but that's a story for another day.
Here's a story for today: I truly suck at blogging, as evident by the fact that for the past 2 years that I've had this blog, I have posted exactly 1 entry a year. Obviously, I suck at blogging.
But I don't suck at writing. I like to think that I kind of win at writing. And recently (it was yesterday), I had a text conversation with a mysterious individual who shall remain nameless* and I said something along the general lines** of, "I need to enter the phase of my life where I'm being paid to hang out and write about it." He or she*** suggested I start blogging, to begin with.
Well... I like writing! I also like the idea of being paid to say letter words. But you don't start by presenting yourself in the offices of Rolling Stone Magazine and saying, "While you were once a great and stalwart keeper of the flame that is rock 'n' roll, you have sunk so far into the mire of cheap entertainment and popular-opinion-whoring that I don't know why I even want to look at you, yet I still retain a nostalgic affection for the idea of you, so, yes, Rolling Stone, I have decided to write for you."
Besides, Rolling Stone probably has "guidelines" and "expectations" and "deadlines" for writers, which this blog lacks. But I'm trying to make myself accountable to my craft.
So, here I am, blogging. And while I may not be as stringent with myself as someone who's not myself would likely be with myself, I do intend to update pretty frequently. Am I in it for the money? Hell yes! If I want someone to pay me to write, I need to prove I can write. Am I ONLY in it for the money? Hell no! I like having an outlet to keep me interested and observant about life, and my weekly writing class doesn't go year-round. If you read this blog, will you occasionally be sick of me rambling about things you don't care about? Hell possibly! But i guarantee you it will be more fun than reading 67% of whatever else you'd be reading online!****
So be good little darlings and check up on this blog more frequently than once a year, or even once a month.
I doubt you'll regret it.
